For our third installment in our ongoing Blood, Babes, & Boogeymen series, we are taking it back to the year 1989. This was the year that video game publisher LJN released the Friday the 13th Video Game onto the original Nintendo Entertainment System. It was a pitiful game at the time that no one really seemed to really enjoy other than the fact that we were being chased by an oddly colored Jason 8-bit sprite version of everyones favorite Crystal Lake dweller, Jason Voorhees. The game came and went and that was that, outside of a few collectors here and there, no one really care or often times, remembered this game existed.

It wasn't until as recently as 2013 when a poster going by the handle Dogmatic on a message board named Movie Maniacs, decided to repaint his Jason Voorhees figure to match the odd color scheme found in this old game. Well soon after that he showed it to toy company NECA who quickly capitalized on the great idea (giving him credit as well) and proceeded to create an official action figure of this purple and sea blue Jason. Next thing you know, everyone is getting in on the craze and it has now become one of his iconic looks. Thats the short version of that story, Now we get to our shoot.

Erika and I had been wanting to work together on something for a while but never got timing or concept right. When I decided to expand on the Blood, Babes and Boogeymen concept that the perfect opportunity arose. Erika had recently dyed her hair a vibrant shade of blue, it instantly reminded me of the popular NES Jasons mask and I also knew that Erika was an avid gamer and horror fan. So when I asked her about doing the Jason character she was really into it. We figured this would be a much more eye catching version of Jason to interpret and we feel after finishing them up that you would definitely agree. We are definitely excited with the results and are pleased to welcome Erika into the TrueHorror.net family with such a fun shoot. There will be more from this shoot updated to the post soon as well. It's that time of year again kids! Time to horrify your audio senses in the absolute best way possible, by downloading our all new October Mix Vol. 3. We are picking up right where we left off last year by putting together a frightful compilation of classic scores, obscure horror tinged tunes. Carefully selected by the ghouls here at TrueHorror.net and mixed by Ryan Monk of Fleeting Youth Records (Who is also a behind the scenes crucial part of the TH team) we have created the perfect soundtrack to keep your head nodding and the spirit of the season going strong all the way through to the big night!

As a Bonus here is a peek at an a full shot from the cover shoot as well as a glimpse into the set up for an upcoming photoset we shot at the same time featuring our October Mix Vol. 3 cover model Sheyz.

In our second installment of our ongoing "Blood, Babes & Boogeymen" series we head down to Texas for our inspiration. Tobe Hooper's 1974 classic film "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" introduced us to one of the most iconic boogeymen ever committed to film, the mentally disturbed Bubba Sawyer better known as Leatherface. His propensity for wearing masks made of skinned human faces make him possibly the most macabre of the horror icons.

Early on when I presented Deb with the option of selecting whom she would like to represent in this project, she quickly selected Leatherface. So after some discussion on which of his particular looks to go with, we got to down to shooting. Deb who is a huge horror fan herself, was a blast to shoot with and really wanted to do whatever necessary to get the perfect shots and do Leatherface justice. I'd like to also give thanks to her friend Jocelyn who was a big help during this shoot. As you can see we opted to go with a sexier take on Leatherface's suit and tie look which I feel Deb pulled off perfectly. I also really dug that her colorful hair really added some extra pop to these that really tied everything all together. We believe this photo set is a worthy homage to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Leatherface and represents what we are trying to do with this Blood, Babes, & Boogeymen photo series to a T.

Our good buddy Uncle TNUC has been a strong supporter of what we do here at TrueHorror.net and vice versa. He himself has been doing his own Halloween celebration over at his site for a while now, this year at UNCLETNUC.com is no different. Once again it has arrived. A Horror fans favorite time of year. October. Every November 1st we all attempt to get over our Halloween hangovers and restart our countdown and eagerly anticipate the return of that chill in the air that signifies we are almost ready to begin pulling out our Halloween decorations and snacking on pumpkin flavored treats. October. Finally back to bring us a month full of tricks, treats and frightful fun.

Here at TrueHorror.net it has been a busy year. In just a few days we will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary. In preparation for this as well as our month long celebration of October and Halloween, we have been working hard on all types of new content. From our trademark photo sets, to all new articles and features. We are excited to share all of our hard work with you. We also have an entire new batch of Halloween themed items that will be available in our store within the next few days.

This month we have a number of fun October/Horror/Halloween themed shoots lined up to be featured each week. We won't give away too much right away, but rest assured they will be full of that same sense of fun and attention to detail you have come to expect from us.

The First Annual TrueHorror.net Online Halloween Art Show

Long name, simple concept. Throughout our first year we have had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with so many new people, many of whom are talented artists in their own right. So We here figured a great way to celebrate the season as well as bring some light to all the talented artists we know would be to combine the two and showcase them all here to expose them to an all new audience all at once. This is one of the things we are most excited about.

One of the items we are most excited to offer this month are our Ordinance 103178 prints. These 11 x 17 prints depict one of the measures the Haddonfield Sheriffs Department take in order to keep Haddonfield safe. Keep an eye out for a little easter egg from other Halloween lore included. We are sure you will make the connection. These should be available before the weekend. We also have other Halloween(the holiday) themed prints, stickers and buttons headed your way soon enough!

BLOOD, BABES AND BOOGEYMEN

Our tagline has inspired a series of photos we are currently working on depicting just that. We have collaborated with some of our favorite models and friends to create a series of images inspired by everyone's favorite iconic boogeymen. We can't wait to show you these but unfortunately we have to.

Still we feel these will be worth the wait for all of you who are fans of the TrueHorror.net style.

CARVED

Our main project for the season has been in the works for quite some time, part photo feature part video project. Carved is a Halloween themed slasher project that will hopefully capture all the things horror fans love about October and its horror ties.Originally conceived as a faux 80s slasher one sheet back in 2012 with fan favorite model Holly. We have expanded on the concept and re imagined it to create something a bit more grim and scary. The tagline "Not Everyone Gets a Happy Halloween" should say it all.

It's no secret that I love movie posters or "one sheets" as they are commonly referred to. Horror fans such as myself love them, and I always enjoy trying my hand at creating them, whether it be for existing films or non existing films. I love to tell a story or sell someone on the idea of checking out a film, so I am always ready to work on a new one when inspiration strikes.

When brainstorming new ideas for shoots with Krystal, we discussed the idea of doing a new movie poster themed shoot. We weren't sure exactly what to build it around, just that we knew we wanted to do it. It wasn't till we noticed a shirt she had that the idea came to fruition. It was simply an orange t-shirt that read "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" that eventually got the wheels turning. The idea evolved into an 80's style monster-themed one sheet for a made-up horror film simply titled "Lurk."

Once we settled on the idea that our creature feature would be of the monster under the bed variety. It was on to figuring out how to accomplish this shoot and what we wanted it to look like. The checklist we came up with was basically "creepy, sexy, and fun," and from there on out we put it together little by little.

I knew from working on two previous projects with Krystal that we have a good chemistry. We wanted it to be faithful to old 80s movie and VHS cover imagery. So we went with the sexy actress in unknowing peril route that was so prevalent in the art those days. Krystal did a great job of looking the part and giving the shots just what we needed. Every time we do a shoot she gets more and more comfortable in front of the camera and is truly one of my favorite people to collaborate with. These photos speak for themselves when it comes to her presence. As for the monster, as in all great monster flicks, it's all about what you don't see. So I opted to only show the hands to hint at the creature and glowing red eyes peeking out from the shadows below the bed. I wanted to leave the rest of it up to the imagination and feel it turned out very effective.

Overall I feel these are some of our strongest images to date. They turned out better than I could have imagined. Krystal looks fantastic, the monster turned out really cool, and the whole image satisfies our initial checklist of creepy, sexy, and fun. I hope you guys enjoy this shoot because we put plenty of love into it!
